Configuring Thunderbird 8

Setting up an email account in Mozilla Thunderbird 8

  1. Launch Thunderbird. Click on File > New > Mail Account.

    File New Email Account

  2. Enter your name, your e-mail address and the password you set up when you created your email account.
  3. Mail Account Setup

  4. Click Continue.
  5. Click the Manual Config button.
  6. Click Manual Config

  7. Enter the following:
  8. Incoming IMAP (or POP3)
    Server hostname: mail.mydomain.com
    Port: 143 (or 110 for POP3)
    SSL: None
    Authentication: Normal password

    Outgoing
    Server hostname: mail.mydomain.com
    Port: 587
    SSL: None
    Authentication: Normal password
    Username: me@mydomain.com

    (Where mydomain.com is the domain name in question, and email@yourdomain.com is your e-mail address)

    Manual Config Settings

  9. Click Create Account.

I can't create an account, it says username or password is incorrect, but I'm very sure that those two are correct. When I leave the password as blank it creates an account but couldn't get mail from my e-mail.
