All I Want for Christmas Is.....NO SPAM!!!
Posted by Frank . on 07 December 2011 10:01 AM

Howdy Folks,

It's the Christmas season, but we're not in the Christmas mood when it comes to SPAMMING.

A reminder for everyone:

There is no excuse for SPAM.

There is no excuse for any account to be used for SPAMMING.

There is no excuse to receive SPAM COMPLAINTS on so-called "newsletters".

Do not assume that everyone in your list wants your email. If we receive SPAM complaints, then obviously there are people in your list who do not want your email.

It doesn't matter if you have an email which complies with the so-called "CAN-SPAM" act.

It doesn't matter if your "subscribers" have properly "opted-in" or not.

It doesn't matter if you have unsubscribe links.

SPAM IS UNWANTED, UNSOLICITED EMAIL.  SPAM COMPLAINTS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO DISRUPT SERVICE TO OTHER CUSTOMERS (which is of course a violation of our Terms of Service).

We cannot have THOUSANDS of customers lose the ability to send email because a mail server has been blacklisted due to spam complaints.

If you have "newsletters" you wish to send out, we suggest using a 3rd party service which handles newsletters, such as iContact.com or ConstactContact.com.

Listen, we all want to be able to play in the internet playground. But there are rules which must followed, the first being:

NO SPAMMING!

Happy Holidays,

Your Anti-spam Elves at Hostica

WARNING!! "domain: exceeded the server limit" Phishing Emails WARNING !!
Posted by Frank . on 21 November 2011 08:40 AM

We have received reports of emails which have been sent out with the subject "domain: exceeded the server limit".   These are phishing emails, and did not come from Hostica. If you have received one of these emails, delete the email immediately.  Do not click the link in the email (it's not our site).

The emails contain the following

********************************************
Dear Hostica.com client,

Domain account domain.com has exceeded the limit load available for the existing pay rate plan.

Methods of load analysis and elimination:
[do not click the link displayed here in the email]

In order to prevent your account from being locked out we recommend that you change the existing rate plan onto a more powerful one or limit the server load by means of code optimization.

********************************************

If you have clicked the link, and "logged in", then your user/pass have most likely been compromised.   Log into your hostica account (the My Account link on hostica.com), and change all of your passwords (control panel, ftp, email).

Again, if you have received this, delete the email and do not click any of the links in the email.
